Summary/Abstract: This paper seeks to mirror the two facets of Vlad the Impaler, as evidenced by the Saxon and Slavic stories. It should be noted that no other Romanian ruler enjoyed so much fantasy in the writings of the time as this one, most of the historians approaching only his cruel facts without referring to the initiated reforms. It is interesting that the figure of the ruler is little analyzed in the Romanian chronicles, where he appears with a fierce personality, who managed to build the Poenari Fortress by applying force (Cantacuzin Chronicle). The idea of the voivode who disciplined the boyars and saved the country from robbers was imprinted in the collective mind. Thus, two images of the voivode emerge: one of a bloody tyrant, and the other of a firm but country-loving leader.
