Summary/Abstract: Terrorist organizations, which emerged with globalization, started to pose a threat to the security of nation-states and their citizens. The existence of ideological violent groups contradicts characteristics of the nation-state. This contradiction is evident in security threat that Nigeria has exposed. Although there are numerous terrorist groups in region, one of the most notable ones is Boko Haram. This group constitutes one of the biggest security problems in Nigeria with the terrorist acts they have carried out by using fundamentalist ideologies since 2009. The purpose of this study is to discuss the impact of Boko Haram on Nigeria’s national security.
