Summary/Abstract: Objectives:The development of information and communication technologies brings with it the creation of a digital society and the virtualization of life. New virtual communities isolated from traditional social structures are being created.Material and methods:This raises the question of the adequacy of the system of national and international law, including the EU law, to this new situation caused by the virtualization of society. A second question to be addressed concerns the adequacy of the existing value system, which has developed from the dominant culture in Europe and other parts of the Western world until recently. Results:The goal of this study is not to find an answer to the question of what law or ethics should be in a digital society, but only to assess the adequacy of the current legal and ethical system. Conclusions:Any crisis, even ethical or moral, should lead to a stabilization and normalization of relationships in society, even if it is digital.
