Summary/Abstract: With space and place at the centre of the analytical agenda, this article seeks to facilitate a multidisciplinary examination of the Jiu Valley which may offer a rich and contextualized understanding of human experience, social relations and cultural emblems. The aim of bringing together these perspectives is to substantiate the assumption that no social or cultural phenomenon can be separated from its spatial context.
