Summary/Abstract: The elegiac confession does not hold too much weight in the whole of Heliade's poetry. Without being minimized, in principle, this kind of poetry, he feels attracted to the wide and tumultuous unfolding of militant and reflective lyrics. It is, of course, the call of his temperament, but also of the will to orient his creative impulses towards poetic universes considered superior in the plane of art and of the active vocation of writing. There is no clear break between elegiac lyricism and the poetry of ideas. The spheres often interfere, the most abstract ideas being sensitized by the appeal to the particular soul experience of the poet. This is not always the case, however, because, on the one hand, he is also an ideologue with a rich arsenal of ideas and theories that he wishes to illustrate through verse. From this results a poetry of pure abstractions and rigid demonstrations. On the other hand, in order to bring ideas to life, he calls for autobiographical, often rhetorical, elements. This is a general sin of poetry from the period before Eminescu's appearance.
