Summary/Abstract: Russia’s Military Doctrine in the 21st Century is shaped with the interaction of the change that started in the regional and international security environments after the collapse of the Soviet Union, Russia’s search for a new identity, perception of internal and external threats, definition of interests, limitations of national power and military capacity, and opportunities for development. The article aims to reveal the change of the Russian Military Doctrine from the 1990s to the present and the main elements of the current doctrine by analyzing Russia’s official security, national strategy and foreign policy documents and the discourse of the political-military elite. The article also examines Russia’s conceptualization of war and military strategy, its approach to strategic deterrence, active defense and hybrid warfare, its policy for use of force and the main elements of the Russian Armed Forces.
