POPULAR GEOGRAPHICAL LANDS ENDOWED WITH HUMAN ATTRIBUTES

Summary/Abstract: Most of the place names are based, from the lexical-grammatical point of view, on nouns, which denominate things, beings, natural phenomenon or abstract notions. Nonetheless, less numerous than these, the adjectives occupy an important position in the structure of the toponyms, being the ones that confer individuality, especially the micro-toponyms. This is the reason for which, in the present study, there are analysed a series of determiners – borrowed from the human register – which appear in the toponymy from Oltenia.
