Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to reveal the epistemological frame of historical research in the context of humanistic sciences, challenging the issue of coherence and appurtenance of history to the scientific field. In the context of great emphases upon quantitative research, the study underlines the danger of emerged empirics on the scientific domain, especially in human studies, generating the disintegration of the field of study due to the lack of a synchronic-diachronic analysis of its conceptual core.History as a science is confirmed only related to three epistemological criteria: ”object of study, normativity and research methodology”. (Cristea 2016. 18.) The theories related to the topic are either arguing upon the incoherence of the historical fact (Veyne 1999), or identifying a pertinent distinction between repetition and succession. (Xenopol 1997). The latter links the epistemological debate on history belonging to scientific field, to the revelation of norms of succession, as human sciences exceed the fixed equation of an effect fallowing a cause. Succession is connected to individual experience related to time, repetition is related to space. As long as the historical fact may become a fundamental concept generating normativity and the basis of a methodological research, history, as pattern of socio-human studies, may find a honorable place in the up-dated pantheon of sciences. The conclusion of the study aims towards a epistemological approach of history as a science which doesn’t refer to a countdown of events but rather to the main purpose of science in general and human-sciences in particular – reaching the truth.
