Summary/Abstract: This article aims to define a particular vision of Brâncuși’s aphorisms. Few are those who know them, have read them, have heard them, or are aware of the fact that they are, in fact, the key to understanding Brâncuși’s works. One of Brâncuși’s exegetes, Constantin Zǎrnescu, in the work „Brâncuși’s Aphorisms”, manages to gather them in a classical manner, by grouping them into two categories: „About art” and „About life”. Moreover, it is specified that they are spoken either by Brâncuși himself or picked up by close people in various circumstances. In other words, the article will follow the connections that aphorisms have either with Brâncuși’s life or with his image about life, but also as possible interpretations of works of art. It will be pursued the way in which Brâncuși manages to give meaning to the words and materials of the works of art, because stone and wood are not dead materials, but they have life in creating the sculptural idea.
