Summary/Abstract: The text reflects Paul Cornea's perspective on the ambiguous concept of interpretation. Realizing a synthesis of the previous theses on this topic, the Romanian researcher, by his work: „Interpretation and Rationality”, projects his own middle position to what we call literary interpretation. This term is understood both as a rational and as an irrational act. It relates to the process of understanding the literary work, but also to the result of this process. In the context of the contemporary world, the reader refers to a globalized cultural and informational time which complicates understanding and interpretation. Addressing the theoretician's innovations, the article intends to demonstrate that it is essential to study this topic in order to support the evolution of literature and the development of the national scientific research at the same level with universal tendencies of the concerned phenomenon.
