Summary/Abstract: The syntagm European identity has a complex and problematic character, constantly evolving and “in making”, in terms of both its implicit meanings and of those it triggered in time: similarity and difference, objectiveness and subjectiveness; individuality and collectivism; permanence, contextualization and transformation and so on and so forward.Being a complex and lengthy process, the construction of the European identity should take shape from the earliest ages, by means of an ample educational endeavour, which should work upon more fields of knowledge. In this respect, the purpose of the present research is to make a series of recommendations to enable the organizing of certain integrated activities for the primary school level, bringing together contents from several subjects of learning, to help students be aware of their belonging to the European Community.Starting from the national context, we have correlated curricular documents currently in use at primary school level, with a series of reference papers elaborated by the European Commission, which aim at the European identity, but also we have tried to parallel our study with similar research studies from the European area. In doing so, we have aligned our research to the more ample preoccupations already manifest in the European space.
