Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the literary experiment of Emil Ivănescu, which gives to his work an avant la lettre postmodernist character. Related to the Romanian literature written at the beginning of the Second World War, the Emil Ivănescu’s dramatic experiment has its spring in the replication of literature in itself, as a result of the unconscious tendency to erase the concrete reality. The experimentalism peculiar to his plays, whose source is the obsession of innovation, is much more an ironic or parodic recovery of the literary tradition than its denial; it could also be perceived as a lucid glance onto literature, rather than as fascination toward novelty caused by the illusion of change.
