Summary/Abstract: In neo-historical fiction, parodic intertextuality specific to historiographic metafiction diminishes in favor of an exotic discourse, because it is implicitly a camouflage, deconstruction and fundamental reconstruction based on spectacularity. We aim to explore the strategies of representing the past in the novel The Life of Kostas Venetis by Octavian Soviany. The novel The Life of Kostas Venetis presents the mystery of the life of the young Kostas Venetis, from the late19 th century, who is experiencing a spectacular change. The book was conceived around a real name, discovered by her girlfriend Nora Iuga, in a Berlin cemetery. Intertextuality, fiction, violence and scenic descriptions make their presence felt abundantly.
