Summary/Abstract: The article describes in a synthetic manner the evolution of writers' tendency of reaching more and more profoundly into the intimacy of the real, which means, implicitly, a distancing from the classical norms of the aesthetic. Camil Petrescu and Mircea Eliade will introduce the concept of authenticity in the Romanian aesthetic terminology, placing this in opposition with perfection, as a constant ideal of the artistic creation. Aspiring towards authenticity implies the rejection of the artificial, of conventions, yet this fictional performance is only attained by the real masters.
