Summary/Abstract: Protecting, not degrading; Reusing energy sources, not contributing to their degradation. These issues have prompted the need for a study on the legal and economic framework through which the state supports renewable energy producers by issuing a several number of green certificates. On this occasion, we wondered whether regulating them is beyond the notion of an obligation or, in the current context of climate change - a necessity. Green certificates, a term that is too little used, make an enormous contribution to contemporary society. In this regard, the production of electricity from renewable sources is supported by individuals paying an additional amount included in the energy bill, as well as suppliers are obliged to purchase these green certificates from producers.
