Summary/Abstract: Michael Skiba’s monograph is a revised version of his doctoral dissertation, which was successfully defended in 2019 at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, under the supervision of Professor Ursula Lenker. It provides a detailed overview of the subgroup of English prepositions and conjunctions that have affinities with the class of verbs, focusing on their origin, development, and grammatical properties. The findings are examined in the context of the history of English and language change. The book consists of eight chapters, which are all summarized below.
