Summary/Abstract: This study outlines some landmarks in approaching Ardelenism as a form of cultural regionalism, particularly literary. Following a short history of this concept and its applicability, this study draws a sketch of protoardelenism, then it outlines a few bold features of typical Transylvanian humanism as it appears in the oeuvre of some Transylvanian writers. It is noted that they generally opt for individual values that often clash with social or collective values.
