Summary/Abstract: The article examines the issue of performance management and its key role in modern management. It seeks the practical aspects of theories from the field of business psychology that are related to the management of work performance. For this purpose, a brief overview of the theoretical constructs of motivation, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment is provided. The purpose of the review is to present which of the constructs provides the most appropriate basis for specific activities to support the performance management process. The basis of the article is the idea that affective commitment is most strongly related to work performance, and concrete guidelines are given with which management can work on systematically improving the work performance.
