Summary/Abstract: The National Audiovisual Council, as a guarantor of the public interest in audiovisual communication field, has the duty to ensure the protection of human dignity, the right to one's own image and the protection of minors. The article analyzes the novelty elements regarding the protection of human dignity in the audiovisual media brought by the Decision of N.A.C. no. 63/2017 for the amendment and completing of the Decision of N.A.C. no. 220/2011 on the Regulatory Code of the Audiovisual Content. If, according to the rules of private law, namely the provisions of Article 73 of the Civil Code, the right to oneřs own image is limited to the attributes of the physical appearance and the voice of the person, and honour and reputation are protected through the right to dignity under Article 72 of the Civil Code, with regard to public law, and we refer here to the Regulatory Code of the Audiovisual Content, the right to one's own image is viewed by the N.A.C. in a broader sense, including the physical appearance and the voice of the person, as well as the aspects related to honour and reputation.
