Summary/Abstract: The present essay proposes a foray into the structure of various archaic and ancient mythological cosmologies, with the primary objective of describing and comparing the numerous facets through which these systems have interpreted or represented the skies. To this end, ancient texts-which serve as primary sources- as well as the theoretical works of notable mythologists and historians of religion are cited. In order to provide a more expanded view of the subject matter, a disparate array of mythologies is intertwined with the theorizations of multiple - sometimes competing - academic schools of thought.
