Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to describe the creation of the Municipal Park in Zamość and show it in a new research approach. The topic of the origins of this park’s plan is relatively unknown in the Polish art history, while it is worth mentioning that in fact it is the first Polish municipal investment that includes the process of revitalizing Zamość and making it a monument-city during the inter-war period. This place had been previously explored, but the conservatorial context which initiated the period of interest in the history of the city, was never considered before. On the basis of the collected archival material, and especially the correspondence between the designer, architect, city council, conservator and ministries, an interesting image of the city and its community emerges – community which begins to understand, after years of captivity, what a historical space is and how to preserve it for next generations. What is important, the creation of the park in Zamość is not properly appreciated today, because the first important conservators’ voices are not noticed – voices which made Zamość the object in artistic research.
