Summary/Abstract: The universal language according to Umberto Eco must be the translation because it is the only one able to preserve the languages and enrich them due to their comparison and contact. That’s why exist the proposal of many authors to imagine the European citizen as a translator and therefore, to name the translation, the only common language of Europe. Our obligation therefore as a society is to save languages and to mobilize all educational resources at the service of language skills where ideas, projects (including constitutional projects) will be able to circulate not only among elites, who then take charge of expanding the knowledge to the mass, but will be discussed across the borders by the citizens themselves.
