Summary/Abstract: The B&H Law on Gender Equality has not yet been implemented in the part that refers to the equal representation of both genders in political life and in decision-making positions. The CEDAW recommendation for amending the B&H Election Law in such a way as to increase the quota for female candidates on electoral lists from 40% to 50% has not been implemented either, as well as to introduce a minimum quota of 40% for the representation of any gender in the B&H Law on the Council of Ministers. Members of the House of Representatives of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly, Mirjana Marinković-Lepić and Aida Baručija submitted an initiative to amend the B&H Law on the Council of Ministers, which would introduce a quota of 40% and ensure equal representation of both genders in the Council of Ministers and prevent its formation if gender equality was not respected. The initiative was adopted by the House of Representatives, but not by the House of Peoples, and it will go to the second round of voting.
