Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on a hitherto unexplored area of research into the modern means of transport – the automobile and automotive issues in the field of theatre. The author has approached this area of problems from a developmental, historical and cultural-historical point of view. The basis consists of selected (surviving) theatre plays (including signs and posters) that appeared on stage in various forms and shapes from the end of the monarchy to the Second World War. The paper is based on a study of the library collections of the IDU (Institute of Theatre Arts) Library, the National Library and the database of the “Czech Amateur Theatre”.
