Summary/Abstract: The article under studies deals with the issue of scientific and practical activities of a prominent scholar, practitioner and educator Hans Gross, who taught at the Faculty of Law of Chernivtsi University at the time when Bukovyna was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Particular emphasis has been laid on the issue of formation of forensics as a science and its objectives in scholastic views of Hans Gross, as well as his vision of how it interacts with criminal law and what role it plays in training the future investigators and investigating crimes.
