Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the topic of naming medicinal plants in the books of the Franciscan from Elbląg– Father Andrzej Czesław Klimuszko. The article presents the figure of Elbląg’s ‘herbalist in a monk’s frock’, a famous healer, who helped the sick and the poor with passion and dedication. The readers can acquaint themselves with the story behind the creation of his extremely popular phytotherapy guides in which he included unique healing recipes, valued and used to this day. Despite the lack of formal professional training, Father Klimuszko understood the beneficial power of herbs and their effect on the human body. He appreciated the need to follow the principles of botanical nomenclature and applied them consistently in his texts. Thanks to this, his works in the field of herbal medicine have both practical and scientific value.
