Summary/Abstract: The aim of this study is to compare the frequently found sustainable comparisons with a component word, naming part of the body in Bulgarian and French languages, paying attention to the associations generated by the comparator in each phraseological unit. Understanding the meaning of phraseology, as well as its translation in the context in which it is used, are of interest because of the different symbolism of the image in the two language communities, with which the somatic component is compared or in the cases in which the image plays the role of a comparator in comparative constructions.
