Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the play The House of Women, written by Zofia Nałkowska in 1930. I focus on the previous interpretations of the text, in which researchers asked questions about human relations, the possibility of knowing other people and women’s identity, but also about fate and destiny. Moreover, they referred to the biographical context and undertook comparative analyses regarding the dramaturgy and poetics of the text. I further describe Krzysztof Nielewicz – the deceased husband of one of the protagonists – as a figure of male violence against women.
