Summary/Abstract: Lately, there is an increased interest regarding the correlation between intestinal dysbiosis and numerous pathologies. Thus, many treatment strategies initiated so far aimed to restore the homeostastic balance in the microflora of the digestive tract. Among these strategies, the administration of probiotics, prebiotics, bacteriophage therapy, transplantation of faeces or beneficial microorganisms were taken into consideration. These could also be relevant for most of the neuropsychiatric disorders. In this way, we are describing here a short editorial view on restoring the balance of intestinal microbiota and its relevance to most of the neuropsychiatric disorders, by focusing on probiotics and psychobiotics.
