Summary/Abstract: The article examines some of the recent decisions of the CJEU that deal directly or indirectly with issues relevant to criminal proceedings. European criminal law is complemented by the case law of the Court of Justice of the EU, which, through its decisions given in preliminary ruling cases, has played a significant role in determining the direction that states should take to ensure a fair trial. This article highlights some individual guarantees offered by the Court, such as the right to information, the right of defense, the right to privacy, and the linking of these individual rights to collective interests.
