Summary/Abstract: For adolescents who begin their sexual life early, substance abuse might be a factor of influence. Other factors to be taken into consideration are family relationships, friends and religion. Methods: A group of 46 highschool students aged 14 to 19 years living in Cluj-Napoca completed a questionnaire covering six topics: demographic data, family relationships, social network, religiosity, substance usage, and sexual life. The questionnaire was self-administered on an online platform. Data were gathered between May and June 2022.Results: Alcohol and drugs consumption were found to influence sexual debuts, while cigarette smoking was not. Family and peers were not associated with the sexual debut and substance consumption. Somewhat odd, religion exerted a significant effect on sexual debut and alcohol consumption, but had no role in regard to drug usage. Conclusion: More studies are needed for a better comprehension of sexual debuts under the influence of substance usage and suitable educational programs addressing this problem should be developed.
