Summary/Abstract: Most of the children entering the first grade know each other, but there are some for whom the group is new. They confront not only with their new duties but also with strangers around them with whom they spend almost the whole day. Children who are from another ethnicity, apart from everything listed, have to face another challenge - they are into an environment where the spoken language is not their mother language. They start to build relationships that have different aspects - competition, hostility, mutual assistance, empathy, etc. As soon as they get to know each other and make friends with other children, they feel more relaxed. The article explores whether affinity relationships (matching individuals, ideas, interests) have been created among Bulgarian and Roma third grade students.
