Summary/Abstract: The aim of the joint Polish-Slovak research undertaken was to familiarise Polish and Slovak students with the education of pupils at an earlier school age in the educational systems of both countries. Material and methods: The research was conducted in 2022 at the University of Prešov in the Slovak Republic and the Bialska Academy of Applied Sciences of John Paul II in Poland. Due to the issue under study, the method of document analysis was used. Results: The research provided facts a bout similarities and differences regarding early childhood education in Poland and Slovakia. They refer to the educational model. Conclusions: Different educational concepts are implemented in both countries, they show the directions of educational changes, the role of teachers, as well as references to the pupil himself as the main subject of education. These differences are conditioned by a number of factors, including historical factors, the directions of the educational reforms carried out.
