Summary/Abstract: Educational behaviours of foster care students are different of their peers staying in the family environment. Material and methods: The research material was obtained thanks to the surveys carried out in six provinces: (lubelskie, warmińsko-mazurskie, podlaskie, podkarpackie, świętokrzyskie and mazowieckie). The research consisted of a questionnaire addressed the students staying in educational care centres, as well as a categorized interview addressed coordinators/principals of the surveyed facilities. Results: The research questions concerned having and developing interests of the students, the amount of time devoted to preparation for school activities, the support provided in order to get ready for these classes, and subjects that were difficult for the students. Conclusions: The research shows that it is the environment and age of the students that determine the development of interests, while the gender of the respondents specifies the type of these activities. Educators help their pupils in daily preparation for school activities, which usually involves between 1 and 3 hours a day.
