Summary/Abstract: Mediation is considered to be an effective method of conflict resolution. For this reason, it’s more and more often transferred to the educational field. The aim of the article is to check the awareness of young people from secondary schools in Biała Podlaska, regarding mediation as a method of conflict resolution at school. Material and methods: T he research w as conducted by t he method of d iagnostic survey with the use of a proprietary questionnaire, among 111 secondary school students in Biała Podlaska. Results: More than half of respondents know mediation as method of conflict resolution. It’s less known than negotiations. Most of the respondents have not participated in resolving the conflict through mediation so far. A small percentage know how mediation can be used in many types of disputes. Conclusions: The awareness of young people about mediation and its effectiveness is insufficient. It’s advisable to educate and promote this method.
