Counter-Enlightenment in the Third Republic of Poland: A Reconnaissance

Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on the anti-Enlightenment discourse that has emerged in Polandsince the mid-1990s among right-wing circles, both in journalism and academic works.The author examines the main arguments and the development of this discourse, fromworldview declarations to political statements. The anti-Enlightenment thought thathas emerged in Poland has become an important foundation of the right-wing culturalhegemony. Based on this overview, the author asks about the shape of the PolishEnlightenment and Polish modernization.
