Summary/Abstract: The study aimed to present retrospective assessment of the role of physical education teacher by adults with different levels of fitness in their current level of physical activity. Material and methods: The study was conducted in the Lubelskie country in randomly selected recreation centers and public health care facilities. Two groups of people took part in the study: A – with permanent physical disability and B – systematically practicing physical recreation (total of 109 respondents). The study used: International Physical Activity Questionnaires (IPAQ) – in a short version, The Lawton Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) Scale and a survey questionnaire. Results: Half of the respondents with permanent disability negatively assessed their relations with the PE teacher. The reason for that result was a sense of lack of attention and low interest of a PE teacher. Conclusions: The role of the PE teacher is important when shaping the level of student’s physical activity.
