Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the article is to analyse the tools intended by the legislator to support the adaptation of migrants in Polish schools and how they function in practice. Material and methods: The author discusses the other instruments, looking at the formulation of the provisions in the Education Law and relevant executive acts. She also compares them with the statements of practitioners collected during the interviews held in 2013-21. Results: The process that has taken place in Polish education system in the context of the presence of migrant children and the increasing number of them in educational institutions was captured. The current postulates addressed to lawmakers by principals, teachers, parents and students in the field of system changes were learned. Conclusions: Despite the noticeable progress in adapting Polish schools to the needs of children with a migrant background, still the implemented solutions prove to be too general or fail to adequately address the actual needs.
