Summary/Abstract: The article presents the history and actual situation of Slovene geolinguistics and its main project Slovene Linguistic Atlas (SLA). The article also presents the work conducted during the compilation of the 1st volume of Slovene Linguistic Atlas (SLA), whes special software SlovarRed 2.0, based on a carefully designed database linked to the geographical information system (GIS), was developed, which allows accurate input of dialectological data and application of different cartographical methods (i. e., displaying linguistic data on a map) in SLA 1. The main attention is focused on Croatian loanwords in Slovene dialects, presented in the 1st volume of Slovene Linguistic Atlas (words for man, his body, deseases and members of a family).
