Summary/Abstract: In the recent years there has been more interest in names and status of South Slavic languages of former Yugoslavia in Russian linguistics. That is obvious in scientific studies of Croatian language and more understanding that there is a difference between Serbian and Croatian but attitude towards the name Bosnian language is not that simple. Similar situation is with the recognition of Montenegrin language. There are different attitudes in Russian media toward the name of one three languages in Bosnia, from the ignorance on one side up to the using of the name Bosniak instead of Bosnian language – what might suggest that Bosnia is only an area but not a country with its history, culture and language. However, there is also more and more usage of the adjective Bosnian with language in the biggest Slavic state, from internet portals up to the possibility of choosing the name Bosnian language in Russian last census. Acceptance of the name Bosnian language all over the world it is up to the ability of Bosnian speaking people to present their culture as a contribution among others cultures.
