Summary/Abstract: The article interprets the po/ethic meeting points between the activist worlds of A. B. Šimić and M. Krleža, which manifested after they had personally met, when Krleža introduced Šimić to the horizons of left-wing politics. This was also the beginning of Šimić’s enthusiasm for anarchist visions and for the critique of journalist cynicism exposed by Karl Kraus. Šimić claims that Karl Kraus not only exposed the corruption in journalism, but also “discovered journalism”: “It was only after him that the true nature of journalism has been made known (...) that it is quite powerful (...) a grave danger to all human values (...)” Krleža started to use the commenting technique of the articles in Obzor in the diary, memoir Bygone Days (Davni dani) in 1916. Like Kraus, in said memoir Krleža exposed – allow me to use Sloterdijk’s definition – the tetramorphic sequence of wrong consciousness that consists of the lie, the misconception, the ideology and the omnipresence of cynical consciousness, which created a court chronicler in form of information cynicism.
