Summary/Abstract: The book "Contemporary Challenges to education in medicine at the university level" (distance and e-learning) was first published a year ago (2018). It is the second in line of the series "Theory and methodology of the educational process" at the Medical University "Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov" – Varna. It contains a thorough theoretical analysis of the contemporary problems in higher education and in particular education in medicine at the university level. For its large-scale clarification, an integrated approach is applied. A wide range of projections related to its modernisation and development are being analysed in the context of the lifelong learning strategy. The possibilities of remote and e-learning for implementation in the conditions of medical education are discussed in detail. The specificity of building an effective interaction between a teacher and a student in the modern educational environment stands out.
