Hypostasis of the Holy Trinity

Summary/Abstract: abstract in englezaThe Orthodox faith glorifies the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit – the Holy Trinity, a God triune in Persons or Hypostases, but unique in Being. Following the teaching of the Holy Scriptures and the teaching established by the Holy Fathers at the seven Ecumenical Synods, the Orthodox Church confesses that the Holy Trinity means three Persons (hypostases) who share the same substance or nature (Greek ousia). All three Divine Persons are consubstantial with one another, sharing the same essence (gr. Homoousios) and coeternal. For the Cappadocian holy fathers, the unity of the Persons of the Holy Trinity also derives from the unity of their action. Another representative contribution of the Cappadocian fathers is the assertion that the Holy Spirit is homoousios and homotimos with the Father and the Son. In Orthodoxy, the emphasis is on both the consubstantiality and the trihypostaticity of the Godhead, as well as on the relations within them, because the Holy Spirit, called the Spirit of the Father and the Spirit of Christ, rests and shines in Jesus Christ, raising people to the measure of the loving relationships among the Divine Persons.
