Summary/Abstract: The author presents the evolution of the article 209 in the Criminal Code in 1948-1960 and the way the article was applied when peasants were sentenced to prison for their opposition against collectivization in 1958-1961. 54 sentences in Galați region stand for an illustration of the case. A few statistical tables complete the picture of repression. The documents (tables of the Ministry of the Interior) outline the instruments the communist regime used to annihilate an important social class.
