Summary/Abstract: The study represents a fragment of the research program Mechanisms of the Repressive System in Romania Confinement Centers after 23 August 1944. The author presents the political and historical content, and the social implications of the repressive mechanisms. The documents reveal the Soviet interventions in the Allied Commission of Control and their influence on the rate of arrests and detentions in confinement centres. Statistical data on the number of camps and prisoners fill up the general picture. The author used, as a documentary source, the State Archives.
