Summary/Abstract: To understand the position of Tunis on the Euro-Mediterranean scene during the Napoleonic Wars and the Egyptian Expedition, it is important to analyze the positioning of Bey Hamouda in relation to the international situation. How would he act in the turmoil of Napoleon's conquests? The French Diplomacy in Tunis, touched by this crisis, sought to remedy the evil but in vain. The French "Nation" of this city and the diplomatic corps saw the disastrous consequences of a failure for the political and commercial interests in this Regency. The dexterity of the French diplomat with the Bey was exercised without respite to face the enemies of France, the English and the Russian. In this context, it is noteworthy to grasp how the Bey of Tunis tried to stand out from his neighbors and even from the Sublime Gate.
