Summary/Abstract: In the inter-war period, animated by the School of Sociology, headed by Dimitrie Gusti, and despite the limited access to available information and documentation sources. numerous primary school teachers in Romanian villages elaborated a series of monographs, at present preserved at the National Archives. Particularly important are those devoted to the Bessarabian villages having endured the barbarity of the Soviet communist occupation. The article introduces some of these monographs, with an emphasis on the very moment when Bessarabia was occupied by the Red Army troops, following the signing of the Pact.
