Summary/Abstract: In the discussions on the shape of the western and northern borders of the Second Polish Republic, the matter of Warmia, Mazury and Powiśle was of secondary importance in the forum of the Legislative Sejm. Both the government authorities and the general deputies, taking into account the fact that these lands, which were part of East Prussia, had been under the rule of Prussia, and then the German Reich, for over the last two centuries, did not believe in the success of the Warmia, Mazury and Powiśle plebiscite. At the same time, deputies, associated mainly with the National Democracy, criticized the decision of the Entente Powers to conduct the plebiscite on July 11, 1920 in the aforementioned regions. Anticipating Germany’s victory, they fi rst of all demanded that the plebiscite be postponed for at least two years. They condemned the policy of German terror against the Polish population in the plebiscite areas, the partiality of the Inter-Allied Commission and the lack of equal rights for the Polish population of Warmia, Mazury and Powiśle. Unfortunately, Polish diplomacy, due to the international situation after World War I, and the exceptional favor of Great Britain towards Germany, was unable to implement the above-mentioned postulates.
