Summary/Abstract: On the basis of archive documents and memoirs, the author maintains that the S.S.I. Archive no longer exists. Among the reasons for its disappearance the following are mentioned: some documents were destroyed after the arrest of Mihail Moruzov in September 1940 and that of Eugen Cristescu, in October 1944; some other documents were removed by politically interested persons and by Soviet and American agents; repeated treatments under the communist regime and according to norms that failed to observe basic archive principles; the lack of a specific legislation designed to protect archive funds.
