Summary/Abstract: The theory of religious democracy has been rooted in the foundations of the Islamic thought and it differs from the Western democracy. Religious democracy does not mean the combination of faith and democracy, but rather it deals with the reality and the quintessence of the Islamic system. Religious democracy directs us towards the model of government which is based on the divine legitimacy and the people’s acceptance, whereas the ruler has an important role within the application of the divine guidelines, the rule of law, service orientation and the establishment of the conditions for the materialistic and spiritual progress and prosperity.
